IMPA 631345 HAND TAPS set of 3 pcs HSS BSW 1 1/2" x 6

This is a set of three hand taps made of high speed steel with a British Standard Whitworth thread of 1 1/2" x 6. They are used to create internal threads in a range of materials and have a number of useful features. The first is the spiral flutes which allow for a rapid advance and removal of swarf (shavings). They also have a well-defined chamfer which produces a thread of accurate form and dimensions. Finally, the taps have a polished finish which reduces friction and wear. This results in a longer tool life and a better overall finish on the thread.
